HVAC Systems Benefits/Goals:
- Series type VAV terminal boxes are utilized throughout the office buildings. Benefits of this series box include:
- Constant volume air distribution to the occupied space
- More accurate temperature control
- Elimination of stratification in the heating mode
- Guaranteed delivery of ventilation air to all areas of the buildings
- Ideal diffuser selections both for airflow and acoustic performance
- Constant terminal box fan operation and use of silent mercury contactors eliminate start/stop and contactor noise complaints.
- Computer room cooling equipment is sized for 150% of actual capacity to allow system redundancy.
- Individual exhaust systems were provided for the Kitchenette areas on each floor. These exhaust systems consist of local ceiling exhaust pickups, dedicated inline centrifugal fans and exhaust ductwork connected to the building’s central tenant exhaust riser system.
Energy Saving Strategies:
- Waterside economizer coils on the Liebert computer-room-grade air handlers allow for free cooling when ambient conditions permit.
- Direct digital controls provide accurate temperature control minimizing drift and overshoot.
- Critical zone reset is utilized to maximize air distribution system operating efficiency.
