HVAC Systems:

  • The laboratory areas are served from a built-up fan room with chilled
    water and hot water coils to provide 100% outside air to lab spaces.
  • Cooling tower is concealed within architectural envelope, office areas
    are served from vertical self-contained variable volume air conditioning.

Energy Saving Strategies:

  • Heat reclaim system extracting energy from exhaust airstreams
    and
    transferring this energy to the makeup airstream.

Special Challenges:

  • Critical air pressure relationships between lab spaces to contain test spores
  • Interface between the office and lab areas was challenging to ensure a pressurized building
