Our History
| 1898 | The history of PSF Mechanical, Inc. traces back to 1898. It is privately-owned and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. The company has played an important part in Seattle history and continues to contribute to the city's changing skyline as well as the skylines of cities across the United States. The company is known for its contribution to the building industry.
PSF has succeeded by always providing contemporary services and anticipating the needs of its clients. The company began as a roofing and specialty metals company and has continued to provide metal products throughout its history for all types of construction-related services and products. D.W. Bowen founds Puget Sound Roofing and Refining Company in Seattle, WA with D.M. Dunne and A.A. Graham. ![]() |
| 1900 | Robert S. Raven, Joseph W. Callahan and Edward Hite found Puget Sound Sheet Metal Works Company in Seattle. |
| 1904 | Seattle Manufacturing Company is established by the owners of Puget Sound Sheet Metal Works. |
| 1906 | Puget Investment Company is founded by owners of Puget Sound Sheet Metal Works. New offices and plant for all three companies established at Railroad Avenue and Wall Street.

| 1907 | Tar plant opens on North Lake Union. |
| 1910 | Railroad Avenue plant and offices destroyed by fire. Replaced by new brick and concrete building. |
| 1911 | Seattle Manufacturing Company is renamed Puget Stove and Range Company. |
| 1917 | New plant opens at 3631 East Marginal Way. |
| 1921 | Puget Stove and Range Company is dissolved and disincorporated. |
| 1941 | Aircraft War Plant opens at 111 South Spokane Street. Aircraft Plant Moves to old streetcar garages on Airport Way.

| 1944 | David Bowen dies, Harry Bowen Takes over as President. |
| 1955 | Gordon Anderson becomes president. Name of Puget Sound Sheet Metal Works, Inc. changed to Puget Sound Fabricators, Inc.

| 1956 | Death of Harry Bowen. |
| 1957 | Puget Sound Sheet Metal, Inc. established as a subsidiary. |
| 1962 | 62 South Horton Street is leased as a fabricating building. Northwest Column Company established as a subsidiary.

| 1963 | Group headed by Anderson purchases Puget Sound Fabricators. Plant and offices established at 65 South Horton Street. |
| 1964 | Jim Beardsley becomes majority owner and president.

| 1966 | Puget Sound Fabricators liquidated and merged into Puget Sound Sheet Metal, Inc. Deming Roofing and Sheet Metal Company is acquired. |
| 1967 | Puget Sound Sheet Metal and its subsidiaries placed under PSF Industries, Inc. Pacific Wire Works Company acquired. |
| 1968 | Hydraulic Supply Co. field crew brought into PSF Industries, Inc. and their equipment purchased.

| 1969 | Asphalt Roofing Operation sold as Puget Sound Roofing. |
| 1970 | Pacific Wire Works Company sold to Western Wire Works. |
| 1971 | Northwest Column Company is merged into PSF Industries. |
| 1972 | Sheet Metal Division moves to 14th Avenue South.

| 1976 | Mechanical Contracting Department established in Sheet Metal Division. |
| 1979 | Industrial Sheet Metal Department spun off as company-owned by its last two employees. |
| 1985 | Architectural Sheet Metal Department sold to Roberg Sheet Metal. |
| 1987 | Roof Deck Department sold to Haight Roofing Co. |
| 1991 |
PSF Mechanical, Inc. becomes separate company with Warren Beardsley as majority partner, CEO and President. Jim Critchlow is made Vice President.

| 1992 | Jim Beardsley sells last shares in PSF Mechanical. |
| 1995 | Jim Critchlow becomes president of PSF Mechanical and Stanley R. Miller purchases PSF Industries, Inc. from Jim Beardsley.

| Present | Today the company continues to expand its presence as a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in design/build and energy services. A 24/7 Service Department offers building owners and operators energy cost savings by ensuring optimal system and equipment function. The addition of a HVAC Piping & Plumbing Division allows PSF to provide our customers with comprehensive services.
Projects include bio tech, healthcare, hi tech, office, industrial and retail facilities. PSF's professionals are dedicated to the company's goal of being the best at what they do by creating and delivering high-quality and innovative solutions for their clients.
